Secure Flight Overview
Secure Flight is a program developed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in response to a key 9/11 Commission recommendation: uniform watch list matching by TSA. The mission of the Secure Flight program is to enhance the security of domestic and international commercial air travel through the use of improved watch list matching.
Effective September 15, 2010 the airlines will begin inhibiting ticketing should Secure Flight Passenger Data not be present in the reservation.
Impact on Travelers
After September 15, 2010 Cain Travel will be unable to ticket reservations that are missing Secure Flight Passenger Data. Without Secure Flight Passenger Data present in a reservation, the traveler will be unable to ticket travel.
To address this change, Cain Travel has made modifications to its Traveler Profile fields to allow entry of this newly required information.
As a Traveler, What Should I Do?
To avoid any issues please review your Cain Travel profile to ensure the Secure Flight Passenger Data Fields are accurate and complete. The items listed below are required by TSA in the Secure Flight program:
-
Complete First Name, Middle Name and Last Name that matches the Government issued ID used at check in.
- Gender
- Date of Birth
-
Redress Number (if applicable)
To update your profile:
-
Login using the 'Update Your Profile' section at the top right of this page
-
Click on 'Edit Profile' in the 'Traveler Tools' section of the Traveler Portal
-
Edit the 'Personal Information' section of your profile, and click save
We also suggest that travelers review their Airline Frequent Flier accounts to ensure that the names on those accounts match their legal names to ensure proper mileage credit.
